#41. Ben Kinney—Doubling Success + Mindset in Real Estate Entrepreneurship

Ben Kinney shares his journey in real estate and entrepreneurship, from starting as a cable guy to building a billion-dollar business. He developed a doubling mindset, always striving to double his achievements and push beyond his limits. Kinney emphasizes the importance of leadership, starting with leading oneself and then leading others to succeed. He also discusses the creation of Place, a technology and agent services platform, and the strategy behind acquiring tech companies. Kinney's success lies in his ability to build trust, give value, and turn around businesses by focusing on revenue, expenses, and people.

Ben Kinney started as a real estate agent in 2004 and today owns and operates one of the top 25 real estate sales teams in the nation, as ranked by the Wall Street Journal and Real Trends. Closed volume for the Ben Kinney Team in 2017 equaled $580 million and 1,962 units. The Ben Kinney Real Estate Team currently operates in WA, OR, ID, CO, NM, TX, AK, IL, FL, TN and GA and was recently ranked in the Inc. 5000 fastest-growing private companies in America.

During the recession, Ben started investing in struggling real estate brokerages. Today, Ben owns and operates multiple Keller Williams Realty franchises that serve more than 1,184 brokers in Washington State. These offices closed more than 8,300 units equaling over $4.6 billion in volume in 2016. In 2015 Ben opened the first international Keller Williams Realty brokerage in London, UK and in 2016 he purchased the Keller Williams Realty master franchise for the United Kingdom (England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland). The company sells franchises and real estate, and operates brokerages throughout the United Kingdom.

Ben is a nationally recognized author, trainer, and speaker. He has personally trained over 100,000 business owners through conferences, classes, and webinars, offered by Ben Kinney Training Organization, on how to run successful businesses in multiple industries. Both Inman News and the Swanepoel Report have named Ben one of the 100 most influential people in real estate.

Ben was recently named Inman News “Innovator of the Year” for his work in real estate and technology specifically for the creation of Brivity and Blossor - Brivity was recently announced #470 in the Inc. 5000 fastest-growing private companies in America. Along with best selling author Jay Papasan, Ben wrote and published Soci@l, an award-winning book that trains business owners on how to attract friends, followers, and connections to their business.
