#99. Tyler Coon—The Uber Driver Who Built a $375M Short-Term Rental Empire

In this episode of the Income Flip Podcast, Tyler Coon shares his journey from driving Uber with $2,000 to his name to building Savvy STR Agents, one of the fastest-scaling short-term rental real estate teams in the country.

Tyler breaks down how he niched all the way down into short-term rental investing, walking away from a general real estate team to focus exclusively on Airbnb buyers, and why that "subset of a subset" bet is what allowed him to scale past everyone who told him it was impossible. He highlights the power of repeat, high-trust client relationships in short-term rentals—where one investor bought eight properties in a single year, and one $800K house has since generated over $100K in commissions across multiple resales. He also contrasts the grind of individual production with the leadership transition required to scale a business, explaining why hiring, delegation, and a willingness to reinvest every dollar—even at a loss—are what separate a good agent from a category-defining company.

Tyler founded Savvy STR Agents (Originally Savvy Realty) in January of 2020. Born out of a need for agents focused on short term rental investments and the Airbnb “BOOM” during COVID, STR investor agents were born.

Tyler noticed a lack of quality and consistency among STR agents across the nation, so he formed Savvy STR Agents to fulfill the need that investors had for agents who knew what they were doing.
